Beautiful Fall Weather!

The weather has been beautiful! Every moment that we can we head outdoors just be to outdoors! It doesn't matter what we do, we just want to be OUTSIDE!

The Roses and flowers are bursting forth with bright colors!

A few Sundays ago, we decided to head to the park. Kass enjoyed a little vitamin D while talking with a friend.
The rest of the gang played on the play set. The funny faces are on purpose! This weather just makes you want to have fun. Even the horse was running, snorting, and feeling good.

Walking the trail.
Balancing on the bridge rail.
Being Silly!

Digging in the sand.

Crank up the music! Roll the windows down! This video pretty much sums up how fall makes us feel!

The Trench Diggers & The Snowy Day

Once upon a time there came a great snow in Maryland - over thirty inches to be exact. Now MD was use to the snow, but not snow like this! No one could go anywhere! It was so sad. Daddies and Mommies couldn't go to work, and the poor little children couldn't go to school (unless of course, they were fortunate enough to be home schooled). It was so SAD!! What was all the children suppose to do in all this snow? Well there was only one solution, dig a trench and build a fort.
All the workers gathered together. First came Daddy Trench Digger. He was quite strong and could dig trenches in the snow faster than a person could blink their eyes. It was quite amazing to observe I'm sure. As he worked, the only thing anyone could see was a red streak in the snow and snow flying in all directions.
Next, came the Princess Trench Digger. Do not be fooled by the fact that she is a princess! She can still dig trenches. As she dug the trench, her regal grace, beauty, and strength astounded even Daddy Trench Digger and Muscle Man Trench Digger.
Last, but not least came the Muscle Man Trench Digger. This Trench Digger was not to be messed with! As his muscles bulged, he lifted huge mounds of snow in his shovel-not even breaking a sweat. This trench digging was nothing for Muscle Man Trench Digger.
The Trench Diggers dug for hours and hours, working without wavering or pay. They were determined to complete their mission.
After working endlessly, the Muscle Man Trench Builder took a moment to rest realizing that the mission was almost completed.
Finally, after much hard work, the trench was finished.
The Princess Trench Digger peered from the tunnel declaring the trench the best ever built in the Snow Kingdom. The trench diggers also built a fort to reside in.

Later on, the Princess and the Muscleman took a moment to regroup and relax, as the fearless Snow Dog, Lizzie, checked out the Snow Kingdom's fort, and made sure no dangerous trench eating snow monsters were lurking around. After a day of trench digging and fort building the Diggers were exhausted! However, they all lived happily ever after in their Snow Kingdom in MD!
The End

A few extra pictures for you! Sledding....Doesn't this look like a blast! All though I'm sure I would be the one standing at the top of the hill looking down in great fear and intimidation.
Wheeeeeeeee!
Grrrrr Grrrrrr.....I feel so ferociously jealous!

Over 30" of Snow!

Nekee and her husband took the picture below while driving down 355! Usually in MD the roads are cleared pretty quickly. This was not the case today.

I asked NeKee to send me some pictures of the snow to share.

A barn.
Downed trees

A Pretty House - I just love how the snow covers everything - even the tiniest branches.
Are you sure these aren't pictures of Alaska or maybe the North Pole?
NeKee's deck this evening. Sure wish I was there with you Nekee. Tomorrow I will post some pictures of Nekee's kids and their cool tunnels dug in the snow!

Another photo of the deck....When she took these pictures it was still snowing!

Check out the Trampoline!
Nekee's Backyard.....Wish I was there!

Baby It's Cold Outside

Baby, it reaalllllly is cold outside! I have been living in this area for the last 30 years, and I have never known it to be soooo cold. I am not sure if it is true or not, but I have heard that it has been........the coldest ever...coldest since 1989....coldest since 1996......(I've heard a lot of things since I first did this post). All I know is that it is COLD!

I love it! However, I do have a nice warm home with a fireplace and central heat. I sure do pity the homeless. Last night the temperature dropped to around 22 degrees. We had a guest staying in my mom's guest cottage, and he said that this morning when he washed up, chunks of ice came out of the faucet. I bet he felt wide awake after that!
We actually had frost on the grass and the puddles were frozen!
These pictures were taken at around 9:00 a.m. this morning after the sun had been shining for awhile.
Frost on the roof!
Frozen, stagnated pool water!
Snoppy - not quite sure what to make of the frost. Don't laugh this kind of weather is really amazing to us around here. Our plants outside are not use to these temperatures. I am really curious as to what will happen to them. Plainoldkristi has instructed us to leave all of the dead foilage since it will help to protect the plant's roots.
This is one way to keep your toes and feet warm during the cold weather. My nephew warming his sturdy little feet and socks.
We have also been having lots of nerf gun fights in our home since it's been soooo cold outside and since it seems that everyone loaded up on the nerf guns this Christmas!
One more thing this cold weather seems to have brought along with it is lots and lots of colds. Everyone's sneezing, blowing their noses, and coughing. I mean literally almost everyone.

It's a Blizzard!

It's a blizzard.....no.....boo hoo....not in New Orleans, but in Maryland. My sister, NeKee, her husband and their two children left Maryland heading to New Orleans on Friday afternoon. They were heading to New Orleans for their yearly holiday visit! The children were excited, anxious to get to Maw-Maw and Paw-Paw's house to visit them and all of their cousins. Oh Joy!!!! Oh Glee!!! (I stole these words from one of my nephew's poems).

However, after about an hour on the road...what should appear? A burrrr burrr, BLIZZARD! Unfortunately, for all of us, they had to turn around and go back home. My sister, NeKee sent these pictures to me of the snow, and I thought that I would share them with you. Hopefully, the snow will stop soon and they can begin their journey again to celebrate the holidays with us.
My sister's side deck.
A view of her side yard.
The highway near where they live.
A snowman they built in the snow. Isn't this the cutest snowman!
There was only one other snowman, that I have seen, that is cute as this one.
It was the one all of the children created one snowy winter day in 2006.
The creator of the snowman!
Another picture of the snow from inside the sunroom.
Another picture of the snowman and his creator.
Don't you think Mr. Snowman is a little on the chubby side.
