We are so excited because our dad started speech therapy yesterday. He is now in outpatient physical, occupational, and speech therapy. We were all so, so, so excited about his first day of outpatient therapy. Therapy went great and afterwards several family members met and went out to eat. I was not able to go, but I was told that Dad did great in therapy. All of his memory is intact - he just needs to learn to speak again. My dad is a champion!
I am so proud of him. Everyday he seems to get a little better. I can't wait until he's well again! HE WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST DADDY EVER!

Fugitive Caught!
At around 11:30 last night my brother called me to let me know that the fugitive was cornered into a small area. He was discovered because of the mistake he made of placing a phone call on his cell phone. My brother then said that it should not be long before they actually locate him.
The area the fugitive was squared into is about 2 miles from where we live which meant that he had to have went through the woods, traveling slowly, and passing behind many people's houses including my other older sister's house.
A K9 dog was called in and helicopters were flying very close. I thought last night was going to be another long night. However, I prayed that no one would die (including the fugitive who needs God), and then I fell straight to sleep - fugitive or not!
At around 1:30 p.m. my brother (who always is able to get the inside scoop) called to let me know that the fugitive was caught. The dog roughened him up a bit, but other than that no one died. Thank God!!!!!
He is now in police custody. The fugitive also directed the police to his gun which he had tossed out of the window at the state park. Believe it or not, he was concerned that a child would find the gun and hurt themselves. Hmmmmm a criminal with compassion. He is also a drug addict. We really need to pray for this man.
Anyway, today my doors are wide open letting in a beautiful spring breeze. The sun is shining and all is well. It's so nice not to need to look over your shoulders all the time. Thank God for his protecting power.

Fugitive Still on the Run
May be armed and dangerous - you can read about it on wwl.com. I would type his name in but I do not want it to show up in a google search on my blog. His last name is Carlton. Anyway, let's pray the police catch him before tonight!
It's funny how the news messes information up. The crash site is not listed correctly in the news! It's listed as the 3400 block - not correct! FUNNY! More proof that you can't believe everything you hear on the news.

Police are Everywhere
The woods are filled with police - searching. My brother, went into the woods and searched also. The roads are blocked - every car is being searched. My car was searched twice. This guy is definitely wanted! According to the police he has an extensive record and if he enters the house shoot and don't ask questions.
Is this really happening in our woods? Am I dreaming? Thank God for taking care of us!

Yeah - It's Daylight!
There is something comforting about the daylight. To see the sun shining and the birds singing. It's so comforting. The fears go away and suddenly there is this sense of safety.
Well, last night's nightmare came and went and still no sign of the fugitive. However, he is probably far away by now. Hopefully, he is far far far away by now. I sure hope the police catch him. If you are wondering what this post is about read the one before this one.
A policeman is still at the front watching but some of us need to go to work, and some of us need to go to school. I am very curious as to what this man did to have so many police after him. When I find out, I will let you all know.
Thank you Jesus for keeping us safe.

A Lock Down
Tonight at around 8:00 p.m. or so, while cleaning the kitchen and chatting with a few friends and family, I received a frantic call from my sister. "Make sure the kids are inside and lock all of the doors right now-right this minute!" Throwing the telephone on the counter without asking questions, I quickly corralled everyone in the house, locked the doors, yanked my youngest out of the bathtub where he was bathing, wrapped him in a towel and ran to the kitchen and sat on the floor with the rest of the family. My husband was outside. Grabbing the phone back up I asked, "Alright we are all in the kitchen and the doors are locked what's wrong - where's my husband - is he okay?" She said, "He's okay - don't go outside!"
This is what she told me (I am not sure of the exact words, but this is pretty much how it went), "A man being chased by police hit the barricades in front of my mother's house, jumped out of his vehicle, ran past my brother's garage and past my sister-in-law and niece who had come out of their home. My sister-in-law and neice then ran onto my sister's porch to get away. The man proceeded to run into the woods surrounding our houses. The police are searching for him."
My nephew was in his room upstairs playing, my brother ran to get him and was confronted by four policeman with guns pointed at him. He was told, "Get on the ground!" My brother desperate to reach his son - not really knowing what was going on shouted out who he was to the police and where he was going. When the police realized what was happening, they fanned out searching for the fugitive. We were surrounded by police with guns and cars. This was not a fun feeling-it was scary!!
For a few minutes it was chaos, my oldest son was searching for his gun and bullets, my daughter was petrified, and Mar-mar was wanting to tackle the guy and be a hero. My oldest son went into his room to get his gun but realized his bullets were in his truck. Together, both of my sons, my daughter, our two friends who were visiting, two of my nephews who were visiting, and I prayed a quick prayer for God's protection. No one could exit the house.
Heat sensitive helicopters came and flew over - still no sign of the fugitive. So at this moment, some of us are sleeping and some of us sitting up not sure if we should sleep. The fugitive is hiding somewhere, and the police cannot find him. He could possibly be hiding under something that the sensors cannot pick up. The helicopters have left, we still have to be locked in, and our friends and nephews are sleeping over for tonight.
However, we have a police watching our homes, and my brother is staying awake to watch. From what we understand this is not a nice individual and may be dangerous. I was told that he led the police on a twenty minute chase, driving recklessly-sometimes going down highways in the wrong direction. So for now we wait. Pray for him to be captured soon -- I don't like this suspense! Will keep you posted.

True Love - Real Love - Genuine Love
Mom and Dad on their Wedding Day in 1963
Most all of us have sat through numerous weddings where sacred vows of commitment and love were made only to see some of these marriages dissolve when the smallest of troubles come, and sometimes simply because of the selfish desires of one individual or both. In fact, many years ago, I attended a rather large wedding at which my great-grandmother Flossie was also present. To my amusement and embarrassment, my very old Grannie Flossie Bea (this is what we called her) stated in her deep, and somewhat rough voice, "My, my, just think people go through all of this and get a divorce!" ---and in case you are wondering, this couple did get a divorce.
However, true love, real love, genuine love, committed love stands the test even through very difficult situations and the result of this type of love is beautiful and wonderful! Today, while praise singing at church, my eyes perused the congregation and I could not help but witness the beauty of true love in three lovely couples in the audience.
One couple, a wife praying as her husband stands beside her with his arms gently and lovingly draped around her. This wife is facing the battle of cancer. Her husband is supporting her in every way that he knows how--both spiritually and physically. What wonderful love!
Another couple, a courageous man and his beautiful wife standing together. He also is battling cancer. His wife stands strong and faces this battle with him--both spiritually and physically. What wonderful love!
And lastly, my mother and father. I see my father standing, holding my mother's hand lifted towards heaven as they pray together. My strong father is now recovering from a stroke, which left him with injuries and physical weakness that he is now battling and recovering from. Together, with the strength of their love and with the power of God they both will fight this battle triumphantly. What wonderful love!
Strong love, pure love, true love--how beautiful is that!
John 15:12 - "This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you."

Dad's Home & Recovering Daily
Dad is home and recovering daily. Thanks for all of the prayers and support. Nekee and mom have been closely monitoring his diet, blood sugar level, and blood pressure, and they are doing a great job of it. We sure are going to miss Nekee when she leaves. She's definitely going to have to give me a lesson on the ins and outs of dad's diet. He is on a diabetic and low sodium diet.
Today was Art in April, a local art festival which our choir sings at. My dad insisted on going, and enjoyed every minute of it. It was wonderful seeing the smile on his face, and watching him as he clapped and praised God, and greeted friends and family. Although, he has a difficult time communicating, he knows everyone and understands what is going on around him. Continue to keep him in your prayers.

Dad's Coming Home Today
The doctor is discharging dad from the hospital today, and we are very happy about this. We know that we could possibly have a long road ahead of us and that these situations take time, but with the help, strength, and power of God, we will take it day by day and allow God to do his work. Keep my dad and mother in your prayers.

Dad's Progress
Today, I was going to work. Nekee called to tell me to come to the hospital that Dad was not good and was really low. My husband, Kass and I went to the hospital. When we arrived he was doing GREAT!
ToeToe, Nekee, her husband, my mom, and everyone else in the room had immediately began to pray when my father became unresponsive. My dad began to pray and cry. By the time I arrived at the hospital, he was getting back from a test that will tell us if his food is passing through his esophagus instead of into his lungs. The nurses rolled him to his room, he sat in a chair, and was laughing and communicating well with all of us. He even had fun picking and teasing Gin-gin's little ones. He kissed and loved on Eli, and was quite happy with all the family around him.
The children were a bit rowdy and someone complained that we were being too loud. My dad said, "Who's complaining?" Then he went on to say, "They can complain all they want. I don't care one bit, and I'll tell them in a second!"
Oh how I love my Dad!!!!! and on how he loves God, his wife, family, friends, fellow ministers and church family. Keep praying and remember if anyone asks, "Brother Martin's doing fine!" - how can you be anything else but fine when you are in the Hands of God!
Love all of you - keep on praying.

My Dad's Stroke
For all of you who are wondering on Friday morning, April 9th, at around 5:00 a.m or earlier, my dad began having an ischemic stoke. Today, he is still physically strong and is able to take care of his physical needs by himself. He is somewhat weak on the right side, but does not have paralysis at all! The stoke has affected the part of his brain that affects communication and comprehension, but he still has his intelligence and knows everyone.
We are seeing remarkable things that God is doing. He recognizes people, and also calls people by name many times. Sometimes he can't remember their names, but he is aware of who they are. He absolutely brightens when he speaks to his grand kids and still attempts to tease them. He loves to talk to Eli and holds him and plays with him. He prays and says that "God will do it." When speaking with his sister, he asked her how her heart and health was.
Today, on his own, he decided to take a walk down the hallway of the hospital and look out the window. We are on the 5th floor. After about ten minutes or so, he returned to the room (we did not help him), sat in his chair, and proceeded to speak of the Lord. Although, not every word was clear, the message was clear. He was perplexed as to why certain people that he loved so dearly would not hear the word and get right with God. He said, as he raised his hands and eyes towards heaven, "One day people will call on God to save them, but it will be too late." He said, "I just don't understand why they just don't get right with God!" The message spoke of the end times and more personal things that I will not discuss. However, my dad's love for the Word and God still manifests itself strongly in his life.
Continue to pray for him, and as the Bible states, we do not put our trust in the wisdom of man, but in the POWER of GOD!
Love all of you and thank you for your prayers. Remember to pray for my mother as well.

Francine Rivers
Francine Rivers just published a new book. The title is "Her Mother's Hope." I haven't read it yet but hopefully I will be able to read it real soon. It's about a mother and her daughter. It should be good and inspiring since all of her books are.
If you have already read it please let me know what you thought about it. After I read it, I will let you know.

Easter Fun!
Easter is such a wonderful time to focus on Christ's death, burial, and resurrection, and it's such a wonderful time to be outdoors enjoying the beauty of God's creation. The flowers are beginning to bloom and the grass is turning green. I love the bright green color of new leaves and grass. It's such a happy color. I love hearing the children playing and laughing. The laughter of children is like music!
On Easter we always go to my big sister's house after church, and have a big dinner and let the children hunt eggs. Also, every year we do our best to get a picture of all the grandchildren present (Two of the grand kids live in MD and we miss them a great deal!) I believe there is a total of seventeen grand kids. We can't seem to get them all in the picture at the same time. Trust me, they all listen so well and are soooo attentive, which makes taking these pictures a very easy ---- VERY DIFFICULT job! However, the pictures are always humorous to look at. I have pictures dating back to when there were only five or so grand kids all the way to the huge brood that we have now. Hope that you enjoy the pictures!
Please note--the majority of them changed out of their Easter finery the minute they got home.
Karate Kids!
Notice the old man in the picture - that's Mil-mil. Nomie was mesmerized by him.
I love the joy on Nenna's face in this picture! She loves her brothers!
The oldest grand kid - he wasn't in the picture. He was inside hiding. However, I got a picture of him anyway!
We always have some friends over each Easter - this is one of the young people from our church. He's guarding the girls purses while they take pictures. I would definitely be afraid to mess with those purses!
See how excited they get over hunting eggs!
