Ya Wanna Ride on the Trail with Me?

What a beautiful cool day for horseback riding. I couldn't resist getting some shots of this. Kass loves horses but doesn't have much experience. This doesn't stop her from trying!

Here's my cowgirl!

Great Weekend/Meet the Firms//Baptism

This weekend was busy, but fun! Beginning on Friday, I attended my first "Meet the Firm" event. This was a Beta Alpha Psi event and was held at the Plimsoll Club at the top of the World Trade Center in New Orleans. I was a little nervous at first, but after about five minutes, I relaxed, and actually enjoyed talking to all of the representatives from the firms. They were all quite friendly, easy to talk to, and interesting.

On Sunday we had a great service as usual and then watched as two very special people were baptized. These are our newest spiritual babies....

Brit and her husband. Her husband is a walking miracle. A few years back, he had a major stroke and was not suppose to live. But God, brought him through!

Pastor exhorting and preparing to baptize Brit.

In Jesus name, she is baptized!

We are so excited about what God is doing in their lives.

Now, for Brit's husband.....

In Jesus Name!

What a great weekend!

What Kind of Fruit/Plant is This? Lemon Cucumber?

My daughter (the one happily swinging in the picture at the top of my blog) is very impulsive and curious. Well, today while walking along the road she spies these plants growing wild on a vine at the edge of the road. Without considering the consequences she tastes one.
Her cousin who was walking with her was greatly concerned about the plant possibly being poison. Of course, after hearing this she starts to, sort of, maybe, feel a little weird and sort of, maybe, feel a little sick. They come home and tell me. I have no idea what this plant is, my parents have no idea, and so I call Plainoldkristi. Plainoldkristi said that it looked like a lemon cucumber.
My big sister said that it looked like a lemon cucumber. My husband said that it was a lemon cucumber. So, I guess that is what it is. It also smells like a lemon cucumber. Now, she is feeling much better. The lesson to be learned is don't eat something if you don't know what it is!

Beta Alpha Psi - Dress Codes - Are They Important?

_____________________________________________
BETA ALPHA PSI

I am back in school. Just in case anyone does not know it, I have been working slowly toward my 150 credit hours required to sit for the CPA exam. This year I decided to join a club--the Beta Alpha Psi Club. Supposedly, this is a must for your resume to be impressive. I've also been told that it's a great opportunity to network and meet all of the big firms and local small firms in our area.

Joining the Beta Alpha Psi is something that I have been putting off since I know that it requires a great deal, and my schedule is already hectic during the school year. However, I took the plunge this year and will occasionally tell you about some of our functions and activities.

DRESS CODES - ARE THEY IMPORTANT?

Do you think it is important how you dress?

I thought this was interesting....The Beta Alpha Psi club has dress codes for all of their meetings. The very basic minimum is "Business Casual".

Here is the "Business Casual" guidelines:

Dos
  • Slacks: Slacks and Khakis
  • Shirts: Shirts with banded collars, polos, blouses, tunics, golf-shirts, sweaters, sport jackets, and turtlenecks.
  • Dresses and Skirts: Dresses with moderate-length; skirts with moderate length or culottes.
  • Footwear: Socks and/or stockings are always required for everyone. Dress or leather casual shoes; no open-toe shoes.
Don'ts

  • Jeans: (denim pants, shirts, dresses, vests, or jackets)
  • Sports jerseys
  • T-shirts or collarless shirts, unless plain and worn with a jacket
  • Tank or cropped-style tops
  • Shorts, unless women's culottes that are worn to the knee
  • Spandex, stirrup pants, or leggings
  • Sweats (warm-up suits, sweatpants, or sweatshirts)
  • Sun Dresses
  • Sneakers, athletic shoes, sandals, or hiking boots
  • No open-toe shoes
  • Hats
  • Minis, spaghetti straps, opened back or low-cut shirts

People do judge others by how they dress. How one dresses establishes credibility with his or her clients, co-workers, and with people in general. Small things such as dressing conservatively and wearing closed toed shoes actually make people trust and respect you more--this has been proven through many studies. Anyway, I thought that this was interesting....since the Bible has always taught us that how we dress is important.

Katrina - August 29, 2005 - 4 Years Ago Tommorrow

Our home after Katrina in 2005.
Everything was so dead! No birds singing, no animals......just dead. No green leaves or grass on the lawn.......just dead. How do you start again? First you trust in God, second you surround yourself with wonderful old and new friends.....
....and you get started. That's how you begin again. Sometimes life throws you a hard knock, but you don't let it keep you down. You've got to keep on living and trusting in God. He always works things out.
My home today! The birds are singing, the animals have more than multiplied....it's very much alive! Green leaves and green grass....it's very much alive!
ISN'T GOD GOOD!!!!!!

Snoopy and Charlie Brown - Best Friends Forever!

Snoopy loves Charlie Brown!

Charlie Brown (the cat) is Snoopy's (the dog) best friend. We got both Snoopy and Charlie Brown on the same day and not on purpose. Here is the story - My friend brought over Snoopy (as a cute little puppy) to a harvest party that we were having at my parent's house in October of 2007. She was trying to find him a good home, and I could not resist his sweet adorable personality. So, I convinced my husband to let me keep him. He didn't want me to at first, however, he relented in the end. My daughter earlier that same day, without my knowledge, accepted a cute little orange kitten from a family giving kittens away in a neighborhood. She hid Charlie Brown in her room and was trying to think of how to let us know she brought home a kitten. I discovered him when I needed to get something out of her room. The discovery was made late that evening after we decided to keep Snoopy. After much debating we made the decision to keep both Charlie Brown and Snoopy, and believe it or not when I took them to the veterinary for their first visit, the doctor told us they were both seven weeks old.

Snoopy and Charlie Brown fell in love and have been best pals ever since. They love to wrestle together and snuggle together. It's amazing to watch. We are so glad that we made the decision to keep them both!

In addition to Snoopy and Charlie Brown, we also have another cat named Lizzie (she likes no one except for herself). All of my pets have really interesting stories to tell - one day I will tell you their stories - like the time Snoopy was stolen from us and how we got him back, how Charlie Brown was smashed in the top of the garage door and his recovery, and how Lizzie survived hurricane Katrina.

NeKee's Beautiful Home & Gardens

Just wanted to post a few pictures of Nekee's beautiful home and gardens. Her home is not just beautiful, it's fun and welcoming. I always love going to visit my sis, her husband and her children. We had such a wonderful time on our last visit.

I didn't get any pictures of her vegetable garden in the back yard, but I was very impressed with it.
